Welcome to Ms.Alvarez's Educational
Portfolio
Hi
I’m Ms. Alvarez and welcome to my page.
I am a 5th grade teacher at Sherman Oaks Community
School in the Campbell Union School District. I have been teaching at Sherman Oaks since 2006. I am the English teacher in
a Dual Immersion English/Spanish Language Program. I attended San Jose State University for My B.A. in Natural Sciences, the
BCLAD credential program, and my Master's in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in Literacy Across the Curriculum
for an Equitable Society (LACES).
My desire to teach is drawn by my desire to make a difference in
students’ lives; I especially want to touch those that do not have a positive role model and I would like to be that
role model for them. I also want to influence parents and get them more involved in their child’s
education.
Here are some of my favorite quotes that inspire me:
“Example
isn’t another way to teach, it is the only way to teach.”
--Albert Einstein
“No se puede enseñar nada a un hombre; sólo se le puede ayudar a encontrar la respuesta dentro de si mismo.”
--Galileo
Lalilei
“The
mediocre teacher tells. The good teacher explains. The superior teacher demonstrates.
The great teacher inspires.”
--Henry Brooks Adams
“El porvenir está en manos del maestro de escuela”
--Víctor Hugo
“He, who opens a school door, closes a prison.”
--Víctor Hugo
